What If My Maid Was a Robot
The day is
not far where your daily chores are going to be done by a robot. We are already
exposed to new technologies that are helping us to clean our house, many modern
houses are already using robot mop and vacuum, It’s not that efficient and advanced
and not as good as human done, but that day isn’t far that it will tick all our
cleaning expectations.
Wouldn’t it
be great to see our mundane chores being done by a robot efficiently without a
worry.
Indian
household have constant worries of maid being on leaves, inconsistency in work,
and frequent replacement due to inefficiency, hence it will be a great boon to
have your house chores like sweeping, mopping, laundry, etc. being done by a
robot, which doesn’t complain, always on time, consistent and, efficient.
Wouldn’t it
be great to wake up to see your bed being done while you are freshening up, and
you have a robot helper to help you with the breakfast and while you eat it and
the robot is busy mopping, folding your laundry, and doing the dishes, and all
your work Is done in time peacefully before you head out for work or sit in
your desk to work.
Upon asking
a few people about having a robot maid they had a similar responses
consolidated below:
-
Oh
that would be so great, I would not have to wait for the maid and stay back at
home while she finishes the chores, I could use this time to work instead, as I
won’t have to worry about house chores and of course easily trust the robot.
This means many women who are at home because of house chores, or have to stay
as they have to manage house staff, can head out without a worry and start
taking jobs outside and this could increase in working women.
Having a robot maid surely has a lot of
advantages and could be a boon to Indian households, but as I was writing about
this a few cons popped in my head related to health and lifestyles.
- - We
are already glued to the screens whether at leisure or working, we are all compelled
to use screens to do any kind of task these days, with a robot maid being a
part of our regular lives, we might get more prone to diseases as it would even
more limit physical movement.
- - We
would lose life skills as a human. We would not know to do basic human tasks to
survive. It would increase massive dependency on robots.
Although
there are several advantages of the robot technology being a part of daily
human lives, we can’t ignore the drawbacks that could hamper our lives. This
could be a big downfall if this technology is not used wisely and sensibly.
